A new year, a new stellar team of Greenway Ambassadors. Thanks to all who applied this year to be a Greenway Ambassador, we’ve doubled the number of applicants and have managed to put together a great team! Look out for some new and familiar faces as we welcome to the team Lara Schaberg, Jeffery Nixon, Shaquilla Thomas, John Coyle, Asika Bennett, and Andrew Lagrand. Open Call for Artists: Ephemera Temporary Installations

request for proposals Friends of Lafitte Greenway, in partnership with the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORD), is calling on artists to submit proposals for our first Ephemera exhibition, a collection of temporary public art installations on the Lafitte Greenway to debut on Halloween and remain in place for the month of November. This program will activate the Lafitte Greenway, a public space that connects New Orleans’ neighborhoods, history, and ecology, and plays a critical role in our bicycle and pedestrian transportation systems. Greenway Trail Lights Outage Update

Bike and pedestrian trail lighting on the Lafitte Greenway between N. Broad Street and Jefferson Davis Parkway has sustained damage due to copper wire theft. Department of Public Works crews are scheduled to begin lighting restoration work today (December 17th). Restoration is expected to be completed by December 31st, weather permitting. Safety of trail users and the New Orleans community is our utmost priority. Until the lighting is restored, the City has increased security patrols on the Lafitte Greenway in partnership with NOPD.
