New N. Carrollton HAWK signals LIVE! Crossing the Greenway at North Carrollton has just gotten much safer. As of this week, there are new pedestrian hybrid beacons (HAWK signals) at this intersection.  When activated by pedestrians/cyclists, the lights will flash yellow– alerting drivers to slow down– then turn to a solid red light, like a standard red light. Motorists are required to come to a full stop to allow pedestrians and cyclists to safely cross the street. The 2013 Lafitte Greenway Master Plan broadly envisions numerous potential community recreational uses on these sites, including community gardens, dog parks, sports fields, skate parks, public markets, and green infrastructure. North Lopez Pedestrian Bridge Pre-Construction Meeting

  The North Lopez pedestrian bridge will begin construction soon! We are grateful the city is building an essential, safe access point to the Greenway and its surrounding neighborhoods. Construction is set to begin soon and finish up in late summer.   DPW hosted a preconstruction meeting on Feb. 11, 2021. At the preconstruction meeting, Josh Scott, the DPW Project Manager, confirmed the bike and pedestrian trail will remain open during construction with detours created if needed. They will also check with engineers to ensure the culvert in the bioswale will allow for the same level of drainage as present. … Read more
