We would like to express our gratitude towards NORD and Parks & Parkways for aiding us in the cutback of 3.35 acres of bioswales on the Greenway. These bioswales help collect stormwater and allow rain to drain slowly back into the soil, helping to mitigate flooding in the surrounding neighborhoods. We’d also like to thank our friends over at Benton Tree Service for helping us trim the pesky willow tree branches that hung low over the trail. We are thrilled and honored to announce that Friends of Lafitte Greenway received support from the New Orleans City Council Recreation and Culture Fund to support and expand our recreational and cultural programming on the Greenway in 2024. New N. Carrollton HAWK signals LIVE! Crossing the Greenway at North Carrollton has just gotten much safer. As of this week, there are new pedestrian hybrid beacons (HAWK signals) at this intersection.  When activated by pedestrians/cyclists, the lights will flash yellow– alerting drivers to slow down– then turn to a solid red light, like a standard red light. Motorists are required to come to a full stop to allow pedestrians and cyclists to safely cross the street. March 28, 2022, NEW ORLEANS, LA – Cypress tree forest and pollinator meadows are coming to the Lafitte Greenway!
